Brooklyn-based production house Loosee's third official release has label head Benbo aiming for the dancefloor with the Ready When You Are EP. Three club-ready thumpers spread across a crisp yet ethereal sonic palette culminate in a project that sees Benbo push his sound to new heights of emotion and danceability.

Title track Ready When You Are kicks off the EP with some of the tightest and most intricate percussion work heard from the artist to date. Moody and muted synth work is front and center while adding depth to the mounting tension that is eventually allowed to release, only to come back and rebuild as the percussion twists and turns its way through several rhythmic iterations all circling around a core tense groove to keep you light on your feet.

Nasca maintains the momentum, this time trading in rhythmic intricacy for an immovable tom groove that drives the track’s pulse from start to finish. Muted yet spacey percussion makes room for sparingly used, but dense and effective sound design elements--a disembodied chuckle here, an alien foghorn drone there--that inject the track with shots of flavor.

Benbo closes out the EP by launching into the heavens with Lacuna, an ode to the cosmic reach of his sound. Glitchy and glittering synths dance with long piercing tones that seem to reverberate from the other side of the galaxy, communicating Benbo’s decree from across the cosmos. All of these interstellar textures are rounded up and brought, if not earthbound than certainly within planetary orbit, by crisp kicks and snares ensuring no matter how far above the clouds, your feet won’t fail to find the rhythm.
